On Tuesday, October 31st, we will be celebrating Book Character Day! in lieu of Halloween costumes, students will dress up as their favorite book character as we celebrate our love of literature. Please join us in celebrating reading with your child.
Guidelines for Book Character Costume: (set by our Principal Mrs. Fielder) -Students should being a book (from home/library) with them that shows their costume character -Characters/Costumes must be from elementary age-appropriate books -No weapons, swords, or mask are permitted! -Color in the hair, face paint, and hats may be worn. -Costumes may not be revealing in nature (NO see-through material, low cut or tight fitting clothing) -Tights and leotards are acceptable if covered with tutu, skirt or shorts -Costumes must allow students to take care of their personal needs, sit at their desk -Rule of thumb, if there is a question about appropriateness, it is probably best not to wear it. -With the recent events and concern about clown costumes, we ask that you refrain from clown costumes as they may be frightening to some of our children. This activity is to encourage our students to read and connect with the books. Please try to find items around the house to help you build a costume rather than purchasing one. Dressing up is optional. Shooting for Success! First Grade Team Comments are closed.
